Won’t somebody please think of the children?

Earlier this month the Jerusalem Post reported on the upcoming court case between the Nachlat Yeshua Messianic Jewish congregation in Israel, and Yad L’Achim and the Chief Rabbi of Beersheva Yehuda Deri. The court case concerns riots against Messianic Jews in their own congregation by ultra-Orthodox anti-missionaries, some of which you can watch here:

According to the Jerusalem Post, ‘Deri allegedly called the demonstrators to the church after being informed by Yad L’Achim that 10 bus loads of Jewish children were about to be taken there to be baptized, Pastor Howard Bass said in 2007. This claim, he said, was wildly exaggerated. “Only two people were supposed to be baptized on that day. Both were over 18 and were exercising their rights under Israeli law.”‘

One should, perhaps, not be so quick to trust Yad L’China L’Achim when it comes to children. Yad L’Achim, who willingly encourage to Chinese torture of Falun Gong (including, it seems, the torture of children), runs an anti-missionary programme overseen by Alex Artovsky  (also spelt Artovski), whom we noted earlier boasts of spying on Messianic Jews. Artovsky himself has been in trouble with Israeli authorities before having allegedly held an Arab man illegally in order to ‘rescue’ the man’s Jewish daughter.

Israel National News reported in 2007:

‘Ten undercover policemen arrested a Netanya rabbi this week on charges of holding an Arab man in order to rescue his Jewish daughter, according to the local Israeli newspaper Kol HaIr (Voice of the City).

The Yad L’Achim organization, which works to bring home Jews from Arab homes said, “On one hand the police ask us to help and on the other hand it sends policemen to arrest one of our activists.”

The police pounced on Rabbi Alex Artovski at his house as he was on his way to a synagogue for morning prayers. The police also confiscated the rabbi’s computer and personal items.’

So Artovsky allegedly provided misinformation about ‘busloads’ of Jewish children about to be baptised, illegally held the parent of a girl whom he saw fit to ‘rescue’, and works for the Yad L’Achim organisation that advises the Chinese government on ‘fighting cults’,  which clearly contributes to in the torture of Falun Gong children as well as adults.
