Israeli State’s discrimination between terror victims unacceptable

Ynet report:

Arab family of east Jerusalem man killed by Yaakov Teitel petitions State to grant family of Jewish teen injured in incident terror victims’ benefits

The family of Samir Balbisi, an east Jerusalem taxi driver murdered by the alledged “Jewish Terrorist”  Yaakov Teitel, has petitioned the Attorney General to recognize the family of Amiel Ortiz, a teen who was critically wounded by a bomb believed to have been planted by Teitel, as terror victims.

Both families sued the National Insurance Institute for the benefits that come with terror victim status, but only the Balbisi family was deemed eligible. The Balbisis received only one year’s worth of retroactive benefits, even though the attack took place in 1997.

“It is unacceptable for the State of Israel to discriminate against the Ortiz family, whose son almost died at the hands of the same murderer who killed our son, and decide that they are not eligible for financial assistance from the State,” the petition read.

“We were all hurt by one person, it’s unacceptable that we were recognized as terror victims, and the Ortiz family wasn’t,” Akram Balbisi, Samir Balbisi’s father, told Ynet. “I come to every hearing to see Teitel and look him in the eye. He should be tried, but he pretends to be crazy. After 15 years, what can I say to him? He can’t bring my son back.”

Teitel trial continues

The family also asked the State to pay the benefits it should have received retroactively from the date of the murder. The two families recently won a punitive damages claim against Teitel, worth NIS 4 million ($1.1 million).

Amiel Ortiz, 18, was critically injured when a bomb Teitel placed in a holiday present detonated in 2009. Teitel was also charged with a series of other violent hate crimes.

Teitel’s trial continued on Sunday, dealing with the question of whether he is fit to stand trial. His attorneys claim that he isn’t, even though a district psychiatrist asserted that he is.

  1. the world upside down. Does YadleAchim also control the court or is the court blinded by religious bigotry?
Apparently messianics are less than Arabs–i have no insight in the reasoning, but so far it seems to be that way
the righteous in this case is the Arab, who demands EQUAL treatment under the law. (this would be a big step towards justice in Israel by the way) How pathetic for the Israeli court to be unable to judge without discrimination. So the rabbis wanted to teach noahide laws and set up courts under the goyim, but today the Arab goy is more competent than an Israeli court
truly the word counter-missionary gets a new definition. not from Jew to goy, but from Arab to Israeli court in this case

  2. There may be more to the story that we do not know. The Israeli courts are secular.
I would like to know what the law says about who is eligible for benefits and what
“terrorism” is described as. I don’t have a clue. The courts may be hampered by
    those laws.

    • The Israeli Courts are secular but Israel is not the US. It is corrupt as well.
Many look the other way when it comes to messianics. This is a fact
and I am no longer messianic, but know this to be true 100%.

Calev Meyers is quite busy these days with his roster of messianics that
he defends. If you google calev meyers you will see he works for a well
      respected law firm.

I do not agree with messianics on their beliefs, but I do know they are
not treated fairly in the Israeli Court Systems.

    • hmm let’s see what else is secular in Israel. The police, the government, the misrad hapenim. I guess secular is a broad term. Turkey is also secular… about as secular as the Israeli courts
since this involves a messianic it reeks to yadleachim’s religious bigotry. sure the Arab apparently righteous one got the benefit, so that only tells messianics are on the bottom of the list of humanity
and Chava there are some assumptions here and basing the fact on the post, not on the court case

    • again i am maybe not clear enough
yadleachim have been playing their racist, intolerant, religious bigotry and unjust and therefore contra-Torah ways for years in misrad hapenim and continue to do so
their influence goes well into politics and is not limited to Shas, it also extends for example to Likud — now if they can entice and in other cases force politics and governmental organs, why would they not be able to influence a matter so easy as “justice”
I dont think it is unlikely they do that in court too — as a matter of fact, and I don’t want to explicate all this, the Israeli court system is greatly heterogeneous as well
so Chava… based on the post and the situation, these are reasonable assumptions. let’s hope it is not true

  3. if Arutz7 is right, then I am mistaken, because the court apparently recognizes messianic Jews as Jews. (Such a clever observation could hardly been (en)forced by YadLeAchim.) This is an important court case, the Ortiz’s should further pursue the matter, so that either the current ruling will serve as a wider president or that they after all get their compensation.
