Thanks Rabbi Kravitz – Don’t be fooled by David Herzog!

Jewish for Judaism’s Rabbi Kravitz has at least got it right for once in highlighting the unethical tactics of tele-evangelist and fake healer David Herzog.

David Herzog will feature next month on Jonathan Bernis’ Jewish Voice Ministries show. They present him as a Messianic Jew.

Herzog is also featured on Sid Roth’s circus It’s Supernatural show:

His so-called miracles include things such as instant weight loss and teeth fillings turning gold. Sid Roth is a sham and a shame to the Messianic Movement. David Herzog is a shame to the world of Christian mission. Such methodology as used by Herzog is immoral deception, Rabbi Kravitz is right and we welcome his exposing of this charlatan.

Evangelical missionary David Herzog stooped to a new low deceiving the Jewish community with ads which intentionally avoided any mention of their Christian evangelical agenda.

The half-page ads ran for several weeks in the Los Angeles Jewish Journal. They promoted a Beverly Hills event offering “supernatural healings” based on what the ad termed Jewish mysticism.

The ads were devoid of any phone number or website that would have facilitated an easy investigation into the true nature of the program.

It turns out Herzog’s duplicity was intentional. He writes on the “In Jesus” website that “due to the highly sensitive nature of these 100% evangelistic meetings dubbed as lectures to the Jewish community we cannot give out the location or details.”

A number of Jewish students attended the recent event, only to discover they had been duped by the Herzog ads.

As the founder and director of Jews for Judaism, I know this is not the first time a community newspaper has been the target of such duplicity. A number of years ago we alerted the community that ads for the missionary movie “The Rabbi” were surreptitiously placed in dozens of Jewish newspapers across North American.

Once the Jewish Journal realized Herzog’s true intentions, it refused to accept any more of his ads.

Herzog has appeared on many of the growing number of messianic television shows. He is part of a long line of Christian faith healers running revival meetings. However, in his case, Herzog has a Jewish name and he gloats at his success at conducting major “Jewish Outreach” on the East Coast, West Coast and Israel.

“Even the Jewish newspapers are begging us to put our ads in their next Health Issue,” he wrote online.

In a pitch to solicit donations, Herzog claims his historic outreach meetings will be, “packed with unsaved Jewish people wide open to the gospel presented with healings and miracles.”

Speaking of past meetings Herzog claims, “miracles broke out, many were healed, and American and Israeli Jews received salvation after God powerfully healed them.”

Although missionaries are less visible on street corners, the Herzog episode demonstrates that attempts to convert Jews have not diminished.  They have simply implemented new tactics and taken advantage of the Internet to reach unsuspecting students and young adults often within the comfort of their homes and dormitory rooms.

As a community we must remain vigilant and increase our positive educational and spiritual promotion of Judaism. Additionally, missionary claims must be continuously refuted and individuals must be taught to think critically to avoid being fooled and taken advantage of.

Jews for Judaism is already planning a campaign to prepare the community for a Chosen People Ministries crusade scheduled to target the Los Angeles Jewish community in 2012.  This time we have enough notice to plan in advance, and it is imperative that the entire community rally together and join us in presenting a strong front.

  1. David Herzog: “if you don’t hold your pants up, do you think they’re gonna fall?”

    Woman (suggestively): “definitely”

    Naughty man!

  2. David Herzog: “hair began to grow on their bald heads, in a Muslim country, and imagine how many people were saved as a result”

    What a load of tosh.

  3. Muslims are more convinced to believe in Jesus because a bold man grows hair rather than a tumour being healed. Something very very fishy here.

  4. I’m not trying to be truculent, but –

One woman whom Herzog claims to have healed, felt like she was hit by a truck, when she wasn’t – she was just at home.

Whereas the woman who was hit by a truck, felt like she didn’t.

Herzog has a funny way with trucks!

  5. you gotta be freakin kidding me! Who buys this crap from this charlatan? This is like Benny Hinn re-loaded!! lollol Seriously tho, who would actually fall for this scam? You would have to be totally ‘TOTALLY’ ignorant of the Scriptures to be deceived, actually i don’t even think someone who is totally iganorant of the Scriptures would buy this load of crap!

What is really sad is that this dudes’ stupidity and terrible miss-representation of the Master Yeshua/Jesus is going to be pointed back at everyone who follows Him. If the true servants and leaders would stand up and expose this liar for what he is and not invite him as he some kind of ‘gold nugget’ to thier plantforms, this would not even be a problem. But what do we see? We see things like what Gev posted above: “Jonathan Bernis promoting him on his show” smh smh shaking my head! So very sad!!!!

    1. “ignorant”, “misrepresentation”, “their” , “platforms”….just a little help with spelling for you. No sarcasm intended.

  6. Years ago in when we lived in California, Sid Roth was a guest speaker in our congregation one Shabbat. When he finished his message he called people forward so he can slay them in the spirit. I went up too. Sid lined us up and went down the line stopping in front of each one of us pushing their forhead and shouting: “come holy spirit, come…” No one fell until our Rabbi did (a personal friend of Sid, what did you expect?), then other people begun to fall. when he came in front of me he repeated his yelling a few times accompanied by quite strong pussing on my forhead. I am standing there thinking, if you want me to fall mister, you need to bring a tank in here…

Sid Roth is the biggest sham..

    1. That’s always baffled me, Dan. Where do we see anything even remotely similar to being “slain in the Spirit” in scripture? What is the purpose of it, even? Never understood that and many other things so many Evangelicals and entertainers do.

      1. Nice Gev! But I always thought that was just standard slain. Either way, not something I’d go stand in line for. In all seriousness, though, I’d relish hearing one of these folks explain the historicity, purpose and mechanics of that and some of the other tele-evangelical parlor tricks. That would be quite fun.

      2. “Where do we see anything even remotely similar to being “slain in the Spirit” in scripture?”

Maybe John 18:6?… doesn’t look like much of a blessing though.

  7. Reading through the Kravitz piece again – there’s surprisingly little about Herzog’s “faith healing” and loads about Herzog the missionary. I would have thought Herzog’s “miracles” would make him easier for Kravitz to dismiss, than the fact he wants to share his faith.

      1. So basically, you can make up anything about religion, so long as you’re not telling other people that believing in Yeshua is something worthwhile.

  8. Charlatans..its all been predicted by Yeshua himself! Even see evidence in Paul’s time. False teachers and healers. Sid Roth in general is on the edge and shows a real lack of discernment by having not just this guest but others on his program. True more time is spent trying to sell this guy as a missionary..then just a charlatan. I have witnessed true miracles and they do have a huge impact on believers and non believers.

  9. It was sad to see this stuff, I guess I knew it was out there. To think that one thinks of the Glory of God as some sort of magic show. I dread their end. Very sad indeed.

  10. thats sad, Sid Roth is a really good chap and came out of a life of occult before he was saved. I think its important to realise anyone in Christian/MJ leadership could get duped by sinister things.

One of the congregations in Jerusalem had someone on the front door was giving out leaflets for Morris Curello a Messianic Jew that seems to profit quite well from Prosperity theology

I think a real test of leadership is being able to admit wrong after something like this.

    1. Maz, no, Sid Roth is not a “really good chap” – he has no discernment and his show promotes all manner of heretics and charlatans. It is little more than a money-making scheme. As far Morris Cerullo is concerned, he has been conning people for years – check out his Wikipedia entry. The term “chilul Hashem” describes the activities of these people perfectly.

      1. zachor, amen, it really is chillul hashem. Sid Roth telling his audience that some of them will hear better is just plain daft, they can just pump up the volume. The Messianic Movement needs a good house cleaning.

      2. I spoke to some people in Jerusalem about this article who are involved with Sid, he is a good man who has been in ministry for a long time.

They only have limited time to research backgrounds of people on the show, and thus, have had some people that have been suspect. Think this should exposed, but I think its unfair to defame Sid in this way.

    2. Oh dear Morris Curello isn’t also claiming to be a Messianic Jews now is he! Depressing. The Messianic Movement needs to distance itself from this madness and we at RPP have no hesitation to do so.

      1. Not sure if he is a MJ, but he does do a big outreach in Tel Aviv once a year and is of Jewish background, and leaflets get given out in the congregations in Jerusalem, although I got the feeling that those giving them out seemed a bit unsure.

  11. Messianics should have to be so so so organized so as not to be confused with these rotten tomatoes… You should have a NEW JERUSALEM COUNCIL!!! Is there any to represent the right/correct MESSIANIC JEWS? These are modern Simon Magus…a total shame to the body.

  12. I owe to the Jewish Oral law my faith that the Catholic Church considered carefully its dogma and doctrines. For example the perpetual virginity of Mary has been derived by Jewish costumes:
“An important historical document which supports the teaching of Mary’s perpetual virginity is the Protoevangelium of James, which was written probably less than sixty years after the conclusion of Mary’s earthly life (around A.D. 120), when memories of her life were still vivid in the minds of many. … To begin with, the Protoevangelium records that when Mary’s birth was prophesied, her mother, St. Anne, vowed that she would devote the child to the service of the Lord, as Samuel had been by his mother (1 Sam. 1:11). Mary would thus serve the Lord at the Temple, as women had for centuries (1 Sam. 2:22), and as Anna the prophetess did at the time of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:36–37). A life of continual, devoted service to the Lord at the Temple meant that Mary would not be able to live the ordinary life of a child-rearing mother. Rather, she was vowed to a life of perpetual virginity.
However, due to considerations of ceremonial cleanliness, it was eventually necessary for Mary, a consecrated “virgin of the Lord,” to have a guardian or protector who would respect her vow of virginity. Thus, according to the Protoevangelium, Joseph, an elderly widower who already had children, was chosen to be her spouse. (This would also explain why Joseph was apparently dead by the time of Jesus’ adult ministry, since he does not appear during it in the gospels, and since Mary is entrusted to John, rather than to her husband Joseph, at the crucifixion)”.

Even when the system is right people will still be sinners and the Catholic Church as all the other Christian Churches is no different, but there is still a guidance of what is appropriate or inappropriate for worshipping. The priests in their private lives and in their words can be unholy men but the worshipping still holds intact because it is dictated above all different preferences, shortcoming and stupidity of single men. And furthermore it has been in its most important aspect grounded on Jewish ground. As the Gospel more than in one place stated not everything about Jesus and his life has been recorded in the Gospel. The Catholic Church being edified by Peter and Paul had some understanding of what was to be venerated. The assumption of Gentiles costumes was never done without considering the reality of Christ. For example if perhaps God chose to leave us the Shroud ( the Catholic church has never held the Shroud has a proof for our belief in the Resurrection that does have to rely only on faith and not on any kind of proof ) has his image on earth, the Catholic church didn’t feel images would contradict the will of God’s revelation in Jesus. With all the obvious contamination of foreign traditions in the Catholic ritual I have never been able to spot a not justifiable contradiction to the Old Testament or Jewish Oral Tradition that could not have been accepted by Paul in his understanding of the scriptures and of his knowledge of Jewish tradition. In any case with all the human ignorance and desire of worldliness of the masses I have never seen a ritual that in its ignorance and superstition would vilify my being. In cases where there was a vilification I found that the Popes didn’t easily ‘certified’ popular cry of miracles and there have been more denying of miracles than acceptances from the Popes

Of course at the end people, priests and cardinals are disobeying and they keep doing what they want to do but at least there are parameters of references that lack in all the other Christian Churches.

      1. The symbolisme in the wine and the bread is the same as the betrothal cup of wine in the Jewish tradition. With drinking the wine the future bride accepts the proposal of union and in the case of discipleship the wedding price which the groom has paid is his life and blood. So symbolic and by accepting the cup and drink it the 12 talmidim committed themselves to this , and many followed. But a lot have imitated and misunderstood this ceremony resulting in tragic consequences and they were never part of this union or covenant

  13. When I first got saved in 1972 everyone was into healings, slaying in the spirit and speaking in tongues as a sign you had “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit”.After watching this video on “Kundalini Warning” I’m glad I never have had that experience. This blogger does a really good job of documenting “Who is Who”, that’s why I like her blog.
“Since many practices of Eastern Religions have been introduced into the Church, evil spirits have been gaining access into believers lives. They destroy discernment and builds a bridge for the New Age christ.”

SHOCKING DOCUMENTARY 1- False spirits invade the church – KUNDALINI WARNING – Andrew

      1. I can relate. I don’t like his opening, he uses to his program. It makes me think “New Age”. But someone said he was in the occult before becoming a believer, that explains his affinity for things supernatural. Have you ever heard of the book “The Bible, the Jews and the Supernatural”?

It’s actually talks about it being more dangerous for a Jew than a Non-Jew to dabble in these things.
This is the first couple of paragraphs of the first chapter in the book “Chariots of Israel” .

        By David Wilkerson

A thrilling Old Testament story in 2 King 6 best illustrates what it means to
Be kept by the power of God.

Ben-hadad, King of Syria, declared war on Israel and marched against them with
A great army. As his forces advanced, he often called his war counsel into his
Private chambers to plan the next day’s strategy. But the prophet Elisha kept
Sending word to the King of Israel, detailing every move of the enemy troops.
In fact, on several occasions, the Israelites escaped defeat because of
        Elisha’s warnings.

Ben-hadad was furious and called his servants together. “Tell me who is
Revealing our plans to the King of Israel! Who is this traitor?” The servants
Told him, “It’s not what you think, my lord. There is no traitor in thy camp or
In thy court; we are all true [loyal] men. The man of God [Elisha) is telling
The King of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchambers” (2 Kings

Ben-hadad immediately dispatched a host of horses, chariots, and soldiers to
Capture Elisha. “Go to Dothan and bring him to me,” he demanded. They went by
Night and surrounded the city, intending to take the old prophet by surprise,
But Elisha’s servant awakened early. When he saw that “an host encompassed the
City both with horses and chariots” (vs. 15), he ran to Elisha in terror and
Cried, “Alas, my master, we are surrounded. What shall we do?”

Smiling confidently, Elisha replied, “Fear not: for they that be with us are
More than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray
Thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young
Man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of
Fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:16-17).

Like the psalmist, Elisha could stand in the midst of crisis and say with
        Absolute assurance:

        • “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set
Themselves against me round about” (Psalm 3:6).
        • “Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear:
Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident” (Psalm 27:3).
        • “He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was
Against me: for there were many with me” (Psalm 55:18).

My prayer is that of Elisha: “Lord, open our eyes that we may see and behold
The mountains filled with the horses and chariots of fire—of the Lord of
The word Merkaba or Merkava – Hebrew ‘Chariot’or general meaning “to ride an animal, in a chariot” – is used in the Bible (Ezekiel 1:4-26) to refer to the throne-chariot of God, the four-wheeled vehicle driven by four Cherubim, each of which has four wings and four faces (of a man, lion, ox, and eagle). Four means ‘time’ in alchemy.

David Wilkerson’s son posted it in one his Devotions he sends out, after his Dad was killed in a car accident, it was on file and I guess he was friends with McCandlish Phillips who wrote the book.

    1. Is the underlying idea behind this theory that America is the new Israel!
There is so much that happens to other nations by way of natural disasters and terror, is this also God’s judgement, or just the world in which we live which has been altered from God’d ‘very good’ to a world now tainted by sin.

      1. I don’t think it’s coincidence several Politicians are quoting Bible Scriptures that match the 8 harbingers he’s talking about in the Bible and they are symbols of judgement. These politicians aren’t exactly Christians. I think that’s the point Chris Pinto was making at the very beginning of his video “The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers” that Glen Beck and David Barton are trying to make a case that the United States is a Christian Nation and therefore we should be involved politically and take it back for God. Chris refutes that postion in his video. I can’t understand how all these Evanglelical Ministers are having a “Mormon” like Glen Beckat their Prophecy Conferences.

I even agree with this Anti-missionary blog about “Glen Beck”

Know Your Enemy (Part 72 – Mormonism)

  14. I’m coming late to this party, but I just got my first dose of David Herzog.

As a Christian, I just want to add my own applause to the comments – witty & humorous as they are – here Just know that many of us (Christians) are not purveyors of such lunacy. Not only are these charlatans an offense to the Jewish community, but to many Christians as well.

That said, I wouldn’t have spent a small fortune on dentistry had I known of the gold dust alternative. Just sayin’ …

  15. BI am not a born of God person, however I am dying to receive and keep the Holy Ghost with me being Born Again and Begotten of the Lord God! I am also aware about David Herzog and others, who to avoid, etc. Thank you for letting me become a free partner! KINDEST REGARDS, Afeni

  16. I find it so sad that the chosen people of the most high God still don’t believe look at the fruit after all that is written in the word Sid Roth has good fruit David Herzog has good fruit never mind I’m not the judge!

  17. David Herzog came to Finland twice now in the last few months and was received with sharp public criticism. The Christian TV network that called him in is trying to defend his actions in every turn and they keep telling viewers he’s the real deal, a believer in Yeshua, he has nothing to do with New Age, etc.

Personally I find this phenomenon interesting. If he is real, his fruits should indeed show in due time what he is. No reason to cause so much of a hoobla. If I had to put my money in I’d bet he is indeed a false prophet and New Age scammer based on what is in this thread and his constant rambling on “glory of god” like what many other suspicious preachers use. Plus the fact he rarely even preaches the bible, rather his own experiences and tries to rouse the audience.

  18. It is written in Scripture, but not worded as I have here, that “if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask GOD” if you don’t read The Bible and go to a good Church where they Preach the Word of GOD~It’s very hard to know the ways of GOD for HIS ways are not our ways. Many of you may not approve of Joseph Prince either, but he at least explains what the scripture says, firstly by defining Hebrew, Greek and Arabic translations. GOD loves us, I believe, more than our minds can imagine. I have learned in the many years I have been a born~again believer, when you don’t understand something, ASK GOD, NOT MAN!! And lastly, GOD is concerned about EVERY detail of our lives. Once you surrender your life to HIM genuinely and whole heartedly, the FREEDOM and Peace that follows is inexplainable~It happened to me and I’ve seen it happen many times over. Instead of wasting time debating who is and isn’t~get with GOD and you’ll understand it doesn’t even matter. They are GOD’s~let HIM take care of them. Don’t let the enemy steal 1 more minute of your relationship with JESUS. HE speaks, tongues is real, HE leads, and tells us things in advance~all you have to do is BELIEVE in HIM and follow the word. It’s so easy. People are who make it seem so hard. JESUS is the answer……..

  19. It’s not David Hertzog you have a problem with its Jesus! The deaf hear also the blind see through David’s ministry. Only Jesus can open the eyes of the blind! Go see for yourself, only a fool judges a thing before he sees it.
David loves God, do you?? How many miracles has God done through you lately or ever?

    1. No Carol, it is David Hertzog!

      Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

      1. Really and what lawlessness is he guilty of?
2 Peter 2 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, EVEN DENYING THE SOVEREIGN LORD WHO BOUGHT THEM—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
Has David Hertzog denied The Lord? Absolutely not! It’s the people who are teaching there is no hell, no devil, many paths to God,homosexual Christianity and that the bible is not fully accurate who are teaching false doctrine.
I would like to know which false teaching he is supposed to be guilty of..

        1. False healings, false teachings, New Agey doctrines, lying and deception, fleecing people. How much more lawlessness do you need?

        2. It is the likes of Hinn and Herzog, Cerullo and Copeland, Roth and Rodney Howard Clowne etc and those that support them, that cause the Gospel to be evil spoken of.

        3. False healings?? Be careful what you say.. Think and seek before you speak. People accused Jesus of casting out demons by the prince of demons and he told them that anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit would never be forgiven.
Get closer to God and get to know his love more. You question that God is interested in healing bald heads and obesity? He is our loving father, he is concerned about everything that concerns us. He also heals our pets and that’s not in the bible.
We have experienced in our church where gold dust has appeared on some peoples hands during intense worship. We didn’t ask God for it or even expect it, it just happened.
False teachers are those who introduce destructive heresies! What do you think destructive heresies are? I have a Facebook friend who once served The Lord. Now he’s teaching that the bible is full of error. He teaches there is no hell and that everyone will go to heaven. I have another friend (pastor) who teaches that hell will end and everyone will be freed. Look up universalism and see what garbage people are starting to teach. It’s the teachers who water down the gospel ( reduce the penalty of sin and make that narrow road look like a highway. These are the ones you should be watching.

    2. Carol, I would challenge you to find one example of a “healing” that has supposedly happened through David Herzog which has been independently verified by the medical profession. Blind people seeing will be easy to check out, so come on, let’s see some proof.

Likewise, the “gold dust” you say appeared in meetings, has it been scientifically tested? It was either fake or just a figment of your imaginations produced by the emotionally-charged atmosphere.

Herzog (like every other person with a self-proclaimed “healing” ministry) is simply a second-class showman, and almost certainly a liar as well. He’ll be very good at using mind tricks (basically hypnotism) to make people think they’ve been healed, but that’s all. It is a disgrace that anyone who claims to be a believer should behave in this way, and it saddens me that you’ve been deceived by him. I will pray for you.

      1. Yes. In his books he explains how he pumps himself up before shows by meditating and then using the theories in the Bible he executes “sound wave healing” which in his teaching uses the same principle as what god used to create the world. None of it accepts Jesus as the Word of God but in his scientific mind sound waves are the way to heal people and to pull extra limbs out of a secret storage place in heaven. I haven’t personally seen enyone gain extra limbs in his conferences, though. Then again I’ve only seen two conferences. Maybe I’ve seen too little of them.

  20. these posts are right on ! ! ! unfortunately u have to include Dr Michael Brown for going on Benny Hinns show a few weeks ago after being warned and then scolded after. Although excellent in some ways he blew it big time and refuses to acknowledge his error.
The Charismatic movement is BOGUD to say the least ……SHALOM
